Introduction

Braylan Clark is a point guard from Lexington, South Carolina, who has already put together an impressive start to his basketball journey. A member of the Class of 2030, Clark scored 159 points for his middle school team this season, the second-most in school history, while also knocking down 27 three-pointers. With shooting as one of his biggest strengths, Clark is focused on continuing to develop his game and establishing himself as a player to watch in the years ahead.

Background

Clark started playing basketball in fourth grade and quickly fell in love with the sport because of the joy and peace it brings him. His passion for the game has also been fueled by the doubt he has faced along the way. At 5'6", Clark knows he may not have the size of some of the players he competes against, but that has only motivated him to work harder. Coming from Lexington with the goal of reaching the highest levels of basketball, he is determined to beat the odds and create his own path in the sport.

Development

This season, Clark put together a productive year for his middle school team. He scored 159 points, which was the second-most in school history, while averaging 8.4 points per game. He also knocked down 27 three-pointers, another mark that ranked second in school history. During the season, his workouts outside of school are lighter compared to his offseason routine. When the offseason arrives, however, Clark increases the intensity with a more demanding weekly schedule that combines skill development, conditioning, and strength training.

Influences

One of Clark's biggest influences has been his grandfather. No matter what sport Clark pursues, his grandfather is always there to give him advice and tips to help him become the best athlete he can be. That support has played an important role in Clark's development and success on the basketball court. Currently, Clark is focused on improving his ball-handling. His biggest strength on the court is his shooting.

Goals

After high school, Clark's dream is to play college basketball at the Division I level. His top school of choice is the University of North Carolina, and he hopes to continue developing his game enough to reach that level. Over the next year, his goal is simple: continue improving and become better than he was the year before. Long term, Clark dreams of playing basketball professionally at whatever level he can.

Closing

In February, Clark attended the High School All-American Showcase in Columbia, South Carolina. He described the experience as a great opportunity, especially because he was younger than almost everyone else in attendance. Despite being one of the smallest players at the event, Clark felt included and did not feel overlooked. As he continues his development, he is embracing the challenges that come with his size and using them as motivation to keep improving. With his determination, shooting ability, and desire to beat the odds, Braylan Clark is focused on continuing to grow as an athlete and maximizing his potential.
