Background

Jackson's basketball journey began later than many of his peers. He started playing when he was 15 years old. He fell in love with the sport through the enjoyment he found playing and from watching the NBA. This season, he helped Richmond Senior reach the second round of the playoffs before the team saw its season come to an end. The experience gave Jackson a better understanding of the work required to continue improving, and he came away determined to push himself even further. As he continues his development, Jackson has also learned the importance of confidence and believes that believing in himself is a key part of becoming the player he wants to be.

Development

That mindset carries over into Jackson's daily work. His training routine consists of dribbling drills, shooting, and finishing, while he also works on his conditioning through running and uses a jump rope to improve his footwork. With each workout, Jackson focuses on expanding his skill set and becoming more complete. The biggest area he wants to improve is his ball-handling. His biggest strength on the court is his defense.

Influences

One of Jackson's biggest influences is his dad, who continues to push him to improve every day. That support has helped Jackson stay motivated throughout his basketball journey and maintain the work ethic needed to continue improving. Jackson has also learned to use confidence as motivation, understanding that more repetitions and consistent work help him feel more comfortable on the court.

Goals

After high school, Jackson hopes to continue his basketball career at the college level. His dream is to play Division I basketball, with the University of North Carolina currently standing out as his top choice. However, he is open to any opportunity that allows him to continue playing. Over the next year, Jackson wants to maintain his strong work ethic and play with greater confidence. Long-term, his goal is to take his game as far as possible and ultimately play professionally in the NBA.

Closing

In March, Jackson attended the High School All-American Showcase in Greensboro, North Carolina. He enjoyed the experience, which gave him another opportunity to compete and showcase what he can bring to the court. For the coaches and scouts in attendance, Jackson hopes they noticed his defensive ability and work ethic, as well as the mindset he brings to the game. Even when his shots are not falling, he refuses to put his head down, instead encouraging himself and his teammates. With his mentality and continued dedication to his development, Jacques Jackson is looking to turn his confidence and work ethic into opportunities for the future.
