Introduction
Cristian Wright is a developing guard/forward who has quickly made an impact despite beginning his basketball journey later than many of his peers. Standing at 6'2" as part of the Class of 2027, Wright has embraced the opportunity to develop his game while using his athleticism, motor, and competitive mindset to help his team reach new heights.

Background
Wright's basketball career began in eighth grade, but he quickly developed a love for the game because of its fast pace and the way it brings his family together. This past season was a historic one for Grace Christian School, as they reached the state playoffs for the first time in program history. Wright also earned a spot on the VMAC All-Tournament Team, adding an individual accomplishment to an already memorable season.
Development
During the season, Wright spends time in the weight room once a week, and he increases that workload to three or four times per week during the offseason. He enjoys building his body because he believes becoming stronger will help him continue improving on the court while building confidence as an athlete. One challenge he has faced throughout his development has been protecting the basketball. Building his confidence has helped him become more careful and composed with the ball in his hands, allowing him to continue developing his decision-making.
Influences
One of Wright's biggest influences has been UVA Hall of Famer Sean Singletary, who has helped him learn more about the game and understand what to look for when studying film. Another influence has been his father, who serves as his strength coach. Wright credits him as a major reason for the athlete he has become. Additionally, his mother has played an important role in helping him grow into the person he wants to be.
He also appreciates all of his coaches for trusting him and giving him the knowledge and confidence to continue loving the game. Currently, he is focused on improving his shooting and decision-making, while his athleticism and motor remain two of his biggest strengths. Wright runs a 3.3-second 75-foot sprint and has a 34-inch vertical.
Goals
After high school, Wright's dream is to play college basketball. He has already received interest and offers from Division III programs, but remains open to any opportunity at a school that will help him grow as both a person and an athlete while allowing him to continue playing the game he loves. Over the next year, Wright has several goals, including earning a 4.0 GPA, committing to a college, helping Grace Christian return to the playoffs, and reaching 1,000 career rebounds and points at the varsity level. Long-term, he hopes to have a successful college career before pursuing professional basketball overseas, with the ultimate goal of using the game to help provide for himself and his family.
Closing
In April, Wright participated in the High School All-American Showcase in Richmond, Virginia. He enjoyed the opportunity to compete against other talented athletes while connecting with college coaches and gaining valuable exposure. For the coaches and scouts in attendance, Wright hopes they noticed his long-term potential, athleticism, and relentless motor. With his late start to basketball already behind him, Cristian Wright is continuing to build confidence, develop his game, and take advantage of every opportunity as he works toward the next level.
