Introduction
Deidrick Hairston is a driven guard continuing to build his game at Reidsville Senior High School in Reidsville, North Carolina. Standing at 5’8” as part of the Class of 2028, Hairston brings energy, toughness, and versatility to the court. As a player who can operate at both point guard and shooting guard, he is focused on becoming a complete contributor while working toward solidifying his place at the varsity level.

Background
Hairston started playing basketball when he was only 4 years old, when his father first introduced him to the sport. Since then, basketball has been a constant in his life. This past season at Reidsville Senior High School, Hairston was a starter while splitting time between junior varsity and varsity. He was moved down to junior varsity at one point, which he used as motivation to work harder and remain on varsity full-time.
Development
During the season, Hairston spends time in the weight room, works on ball-handling and three-point shooting, and continues to build his all-around skill set throughout the week. While he pushes himself to improve, he also understands the importance of rest and recovery, taking time to keep his body fresh. In the offseason, he maintains that same routine, staying committed to growth year-round. His work ethic reflects a player determined to elevate every aspect of his game.
Influences
Throughout his journey,Hairston has been guided by a strong support system. He credits his trainers, Sam Hunt and Dru Cone, as well as his JV coach, Bryan Jenkins, for helping him understand what areas he needs to improve and how to reach his goals. His family has also played a major role, consistently encouraging him to keep working and strive for success. At the same time, Hairston has used doubt from others as fuel, turning criticism into motivation to prove himself.
Goals
Looking ahead, Hairston has clear ambitions. He wants to play college basketball and eventually reach the NBA. Schools like Tennessee, UConn, Kentucky, Auburn, and Duke have caught his attention due to their style of play and player development. In the short term, his focus is on getting stronger and earning a consistent role on the varsity team. He also wants to improve his ability to shoot deep three-pointers, while continuing to rely on his biggest strengths, attacking the rim, getting to his spots, and facilitating for his teammates.
Closing
In March of this year, Hairston competed at the High School All-American Showcase in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he faced the challenge of playing alongside unfamiliar teammates. He adjusted by learning their strengths and using that knowledge to exploit the weaknesses of their opponents. Most importantly, he hopes coaches and scouts noticed his aggressiveness on both sides of the ball, his team-first mindset, and his willingness to do whatever it takes to win. With his mindset, work ethic, and determination to improve, Deidrick Hairston is steadily building toward a future where his impact on the game continues to grow.
