Introduction
Scott Lopez is a resilient small forward continuing to build his game at Prescott School District in Prescott, Washington. Standing at 5'10" as part of the Class of 2027, Lopez has embraced every challenge that has come his way, using adversity as motivation to improve. Despite his team's difficult season, he emerged as one of its brightest performers and remains committed to reaching the next level of the game.

Background
Lopez's basketball journey began in seventh grade, although his love for the sport started much earlier. At just five years old, he became fascinated with basketball while watching NBA superstar Stephen Curry. Curry's style of play taught Lopez that success isn't determined by height but by heart, confidence, and skill. That mindset inspired him to dedicate himself to the game and continues to fuel his motivation every time he steps onto the court.
Development
This past season, Prescott endured a difficult campaign, finishing without a team win. Despite those challenges, Lopez put together an outstanding individual season, averaging 12 points per game, scoring 337 total points, and earning his team's Most Valuable Player award. During the season, his training routine was focused on eating right, training, and recovery, and he has carried that same routine into the offseason. One of the biggest obstacles he has faced has been overcoming concerns about his height while also building confidence during games. Instead of letting those challenges define him, he has continued to trust his work ethic and focus on improving every aspect of his game.
Influences
One of Lopez's biggest influences has been his high school coach, who has taught him the fundamental skills of dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense. He also credits his parents for offering guidance during and after games and encouraging him to continue improving. In addition, Stephen Curry remains a major source of inspiration because of the effort, confidence, and passion he brings to the game. Lopez is currently focused on becoming a more complete all-around player, and he believes his greatest strength is his willingness to put the team first and do whatever is needed to help his teammates succeed.
Goals
Looking ahead, Lopez hopes to continue his basketball career at the collegiate level. His top schools are the University of Arizona, the University of Kansas, and the University of Oregon. Over the next year, one of his personal goals is to continue growing physically while developing every aspect of his game. Long-term, Lopez hopes to become the best player he can be and ultimately earn the opportunity to play professionally.
Closing
In March, Lopez attended the High School All-American Showcase in Seattle, Washington. He said it was a great experience and enjoyed competing against talented athletes from around the region. Most importantly, he hopes the college coaches and scouts in attendance noticed his team-first mentality, passion for the game, and relentless effort. As Scott Lopez continues working toward his goals, his determination and commitment to improvement will remain the foundation of his basketball journey.
