Player Spotlight: Isaac Sawicki is Focused on Growth and Versatility

By Jake Sands, May 29, 2026

Introduction

Isaac Sawicki is an emerging guard committed to continuing to elevate at Carlson High School in Gibraltar, Michigan. Standing at 6'1" as part of the Class of 2029, Sawicki can impact the game as both a scorer and facilitator. As his high school career progresses, he is committed to continue elevating his performance while adapting to whatever role his team needs.

Background

Sawicki started playing basketball in first grade. He was playing with his friends on a youth team, and from that point on, he started playing all the time and enjoyed it. What started as a fun activity quickly turned into a true passion, as he found himself constantly playing and working on his skills. His love for the game has only grown stronger over time, driving him to improve year after year.

Development

This season, Carlson High School finished with a 10–10 record. The team had ups and downs throughout the season, but improved as the year progressed. Sawicki was put into a new role, playing more at point guard after their usual point guard got injured. That experience helped him develop his ball-handling, decision-making, and overall understanding of the game. During the season, his training routine includes a lot of work on shooting, ball-handling, and conditioning. In the offseason, he works out every day while continuing to refine his shooting and ball-handling skills.

Influences

Sawicki credits his development to his AAU coach, Ryan DiBrano, and his longtime middle school coach, Coach Mark. Both of them have consistently pushed him to improve and have played a key role in shaping his mindset and approach to the game. Their guidance has helped him stay focused on becoming the best version of himself both on and off the court. Sawicki also looks up to NBA players like Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and Pistons rising star Cade Cunningham.

Goals

Looking ahead, Sawicki aspires to play college basketball once his high school career is over. Over the next year, his goals are to earn a starting spot on the varsity team and become a great all-around player. Long-term, he hopes to play basketball professionally, whether in the NBA or overseas.

Closing

In March, Sawicki attended the High School All-American Showcase in Detroit, Michigan. He said it was a great experience that showed him where he stands as a player and the level of competition he is up against. He adjusted quickly to new teammates and worked well alongside them. Most importantly, he hopes the coaches and scouts in attendance noticed his passing and ability to find open teammates, as well as his academic performance and work in the classroom. He currently has a 3.9 GPA. With a strong work ethic, a team-first mindset, and a willingness to take on new challenges, Isaac Sawicki is steadily building his game and positioning himself for future success.
