Background

Howard started playing basketball when he was in first grade. He played multiple sports growing up, but basketball became the one that stuck with him the most and became his primary sport starting in ninth grade. This season, Howard helped lead his high school team to a playoff appearance, but they unfortunately did not make the championship.

Development

Howard’s journey has been defined by both growth and resilience. During the season, his training routine involves a workout session in the morning followed by team practices in the evening. In the offseason, Howard keeps the same routine and plays pickup basketball games at the park. Despite that dedication, he has faced multiple setbacks. He tore a ligament in his ankle during AAU play as a sophomore, followed by two additional ligament tears in his junior season. Recently, he has also been dealing with a broken finger. Instead of slowing him down, those challenges have strengthened his mindset and commitment to improving every aspect of his game.

Influences

Howard credits much of his development to his AAU coach, Laymond Harris. Coach Harris has always pushed him to be the best player he can be. He takes time outside of practice to help Howard improve as a player. His guidance has helped shape Howard into a player who understands the importance of discipline, effort, and continuous improvement.

Goals

Looking ahead, Howard wants to play Division I college basketball. Currently, his top schools are Oklahoma Wesleyan, William Woods University, and Southwestern University because of their strong coaching staffs and school environments. Long-term, his dream is to play professionally, whether in the NBA or overseas. On the court, Howard is focused on improving his ball-handling and perimeter shooting, allowing him to transition into more of a versatile, guard-like role. His biggest strengths are his defense, rim protection, and mid-range shooting, but he is looking to improve on everything and become a complete player.

Closing

Howard recently competed at the High School All-American Showcase, where he had the opportunity to connect with coaches and compete against other talented athletes. Coaches told him to continue working on his ball-handling and shooting if he wants to make it to the next level. Most importantly, he hopes the college coaches and scouts in attendance noticed his determination, scoring ability, and defensive intensity. With his size, resilience, and commitment to growth, Kaden Howard is steadily building toward a future where his impact on the game can continue to expand.
