Introduction
Makhi Mobley is a freshman point guard who is already making strides in his basketball journey at DeSoto County High School in Arcadia, Florida. Standing at 5’9” as part of the Class of 2029, Mobley is focused on developing his skills as a true floor general. With a pass-first mentality and a strong desire to elevate the players around him, he continues to grow into his role while gaining valuable experience early in his high school career.

Background
Mobley fell in love with basketball at a very young age; his grandmother introduced it to him when he was 8 years old. From that moment on, the sport quickly became a major part of his life. Growing up, he studied some of the NBA's greatest players, especially the late great Kobe Bryant. Mobley also looks up to other past and present NBA stars like Allen Iverson, Shai Gilgeous Alexander, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant, and models his game after them.
Development
As a freshman, Mobley had the opportunity to contribute while learning the pace and demands of high school basketball. His team finished the season with a solid 12–6 record, giving him valuable experience while helping him grow through both successes and mistakes. Mobley's in-season training routine involves daily team practices followed by film study, where he learns how to become a better scorer and floor general for his team. In the offseason, he continues to train hard while also prioritizing rest and recovery, which he learned from a Kobe Bryant interview emphasizing the importance of rest and recovery.
Influences
A key figure in Mobley's development has been his trainer Joe Powell, who has played a significant role in refining his skill set. Powell has helped Mobley improve his ball handling, passing, and ability to handle defensive pressure. Beyond the physical aspects of the game, Mobley has also worked to strengthen his mental approach, especially after overcoming moments of self-doubt. Instead of letting those challenges hold him back, he uses them as motivation to focus on sticking to his game and not letting anyone tell him what he can or can't do.
Goals
Looking ahead, Mobley has ambitious goals for his basketball career. He hopes to play college basketball and eventually the NBA. Some schools he is interested in include Auburn, Florida, and Columbia University. Ultimately, Mobley wants to develop into an MVP-level player who can lead his team to consistent success while continuing to grow as a leader and competitor.
Closing
Mobley recently tested his skills at the High School All-American Showcase in Orlando, Florida, where he faced high-level competition and used the experience to sharpen his decision-making, ball-handling, and leadership as a point guard. The event reinforced his belief that growth comes through challenge. With his dedication to improvement, commitment to teamwork, and determination to push past obstacles, Makhi Mobley is steadily building a foundation that could carry him far in the game of basketball.
