Introduction
Ronin Okahara is a versatile guard continuing to develop his game at Colonial Christian School in Homestead, Florida. Standing at 6’1” as part of the Class of 2028, Okahara brings a unique combination of size, court vision, and determination to the court. Despite being relatively new to the game, he is quickly building a reputation as a player committed to learning every aspect of basketball.

Background
Okahara’s journey into basketball is different from that of his peers. After trying out multiple sports as a kid, basketball became the only one that truly stuck with him. Even though he has only been playing for a year and a half, his passion for the game has grown rapidly. That love for basketball has fueled his desire to improve and push himself to compete at a higher level.
Development
Throughout this past season, Okahara faced multiple challenges that accelerated his development. Splitting time between JV and varsity, he often found himself guarding the opposing teams' centers, players who are much taller and stronger than him. Rather than seeing it as a disadvantage, Okahara saw it as a valuable learning opportunity to help him develop a complete skill set as a player. During the season, his team had more games than practices, so he would spend a lot of time working on skills individually. He would train three times a day, in the morning, during school, and after every game. In the offseason, he continues that commitment, using the additional time to focus on skill development without the pressure of constant competition.
Influences
Okahara credits most of his growth to his AAU coach, who told him that every player should learn how to become a guard, regardless of height. That mindset has shaped the way Okahara approaches the game, pushing him to expand his abilities beyond traditional positional roles. He also appreciates the support of his trainers, who have helped him stay physically prepared and recover throughout the demands of the season.
Goals
Looking ahead, Okahara has clear goals for his future. He wants to play college basketball at any level, Division I, II, or III, and then in the NBA. One of his biggest inspirations is NBA superstar Luka Dončić, known for his basketball IQ, court vision, and elite scoring abilities. In the short term, Okahara wants to improve his ball-handling while continuing to rely on his strengths of court vision and basketball IQ. He also wants to lead his school team to a state title, something they have not won in a very long time.
Closing
Earlier this year, Okahara competed at the High School All-American Showcase in Miami, Florida. He enjoyed the experience and opportunity to compete against other top high school athletes. Despite playing with all-new teammates, he was able to gain chemistry quickly and work together with them effectively. Additionally, Okahara did drills focused on shooting, finishing, and handling defensive pressure. Most importantly, he hopes the college coaches and scouts in attendance noticed his effort level and mindset to never give up, regardless of the score.
